Is Disneyland Hotel Worth It? A Disneyland Hotel Review – 2023
Thinking of staying at the Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California?
Well if so, you are in the right place!
Here, you’ll find my in-depth Disneyland Hotel review, so you can decide if this hotel is the right accommodation for you and your family!
We’re going to talk about the theming, the location, the rooms, the pools, the dining options, the activities, and more!
Pssst…..I’m also a travel agent who specializes in Disney, so be sure to contact me and I can help plan and book your Disney vacation.
Disneyland Hotel Theming
We’re going to start off this Disneyland Hotel review by talking about the theming. This will give you a good idea of the atmosphere and overall vibe of the property.
Let me just say, that I absolutely love Disneyland Hotel’s theming!
If you’re one like me that loves the nostalgia of Disney like the classic Disney rides at Disneyland Park or Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, you’re going to absolutely love this hotel!
The theming definitely gives you all those nostalgic Disney feels in a modern, luxurious setting.
One way Disneyland Hotel ties its classic theming into the hotel is in the name of its towers.
The hotel is divided into 3 towers: Fantasy, Adventure, and Frontier. They are all named after the original lands at Disneyland Park.
From the moment you arrive in the lobby at check-in, which is in the Fantasy tower, you’ll see how Disney ties in the classic Disney theming to this hotel.
In the check-in area, you’ll see these adorable teacup chairs which are modeled after the Mad Tea Party ride in Fantasyland at Disneyland Park.
On my recent trip to Disneyland Hotel, we stayed in the Frontier Tower. The lobby has a beautiful display of Frontierland at Disneyland Park.
Disneyland Hotel Location
One of the best features of staying at Disneyland Hotel is the location. And Disneyland Hotel definitely is in a prime location!
Disneyland Hotel is located right next to the entrance of Downtown Disney. Because you are right next to Downtown Disney, you are within a 5-minute walk of everything Downtown Disney has to offer including all its shops and restaurants.
And on the other side of Downtown Disney is the main gates to both Disneyland Resort Parks. So by staying at Disneyland Hotel, you are within a short walking distance of both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure.
And another huge benefit in regards to location is you are super close to the Disneyland Monorail. In fact, this is THE closest hotel to the Disneyland Monorail! The monorail is located near the entrance to Downtown Disney.
On your Disneyland Park day, you can take the monorail directly into Tomorrowland inside Disneyland Park. I love getting into Disneyland Park this way because it saves you from having to wait in long lines at the main gate. Plus, it’s especially convenient if you want to hit Space Mountain or anything in Tomorrowland first.
Disneyland Hotel Room Review
The rooms at Disneyland Hotel are modern, sophisticated, and luxurious with a classic, magical Disney feel.
I would also like to add that Disneyland Hotel rooms sleep up to 5 adults! For those with a family of 5 like myself, you know how hard it can be to find a standard hotel room that sleeps that 5th person.
When walking into the rooms at Disneyland Hotel you will immediately get a feel of the modern, simple, nostalgic Disney theme and your eyes will go straight to the unique, stunning headboard!
With a turn of the switch on the bedside table lamp, the Sleeping Beauty Castle headboard will light up and play “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.” After the song is finished playing, the lights will stay on until you turn them off.
Seriously, how magical is this? If you are a Disney lover, you’re going to absolutely love this!
✨Check out my TikTok video here to get a glimpse into these magical rooms!
The wall decor in Disneyland Hotel’s rooms is modern with simple, classic black-and-white Disneyland art. Above the sofa bed is a beautiful black and white collage of pictures of Disneyland Park with Walt centered in the middle.
Another beautiful piece of art hung on the wall is a black and white picture of Sleeping Beauty Castle.
On our recent stay at Disneyland Hotel, we had a Premium View room on the 11th floor of Frontier Tower. The views were absolutely incredible. We had views of the pool area and also of the Downtown Disney area. You could also see Disneyland Park in the distance.

Signature Suites
Disneyland Hotel also offers the best of the best with its Signature Suites.
These suites are incredible! These are ultra-luxurious and themed after their name. Let me just say these are pricy! Very pricy! $$$$$
The 5 Signature Suites at Disneyland Hotel are:
- Adventureland Signature Suite
- Big Thunder Signature Suite
- Fairytale Signature Suite
- Mickey Mouse Penthouse Signature Suite
- Pirates of the Caribbean Signature Suite
When staying at these Signature Suites, you get exclusive access to the E-Ticket Club in the Adventure Tower just like you would if staying at a standard room with club-level service.
Disneyland Hotel Pool
The pool area at Disneyland Hotel is located in the center of the hotel’s property. It consists of 2 retro-themed pools, 2 waterslides, and 2 whirlpools/hot tubs.
Just like the rest of the hotel, the pool is beautifully themed after classic Disneyland Park.
I love how Disney tied the classic Disneyland theming into the hotel’s pool. The retro Disneyland sign and the monorail-themed waterslides are my favorite part of the hotel!
If visiting Disneyland with kids, they’re going to love the 2 towering monorail waterslides. I know mine sure did!
The monorail waterslides are replicas of the original Mark 1 Monorail trains. There’s a 25-foot-high, 180-foot-long Red Monorail slide, and a 13-foot-high, 80-foot-long Yellow Monorail slide.
Both waterslides spill out into a shallow water play area perfect for the youngest kids.
Not looking to ride down a waterslide? For a more relaxing swim, you can use the E-Ticket and D-Ticket pools. And the pools at Disneyland Hotel are heated, so during the cooler times of the year, you can swim in a more comfortable temperature.
The E-Ticket pool is the largest pool at 4,800 square feet. The smaller D-Ticket pool is great for those looking to swim laps. Adults looking for some relaxation can use the Mickey Spa and Minnie Spa whirlpools.
The entire pool area is surrounded by comfortable lounge chairs, tables, and umbrellas to shield you from the hot Southern California sun. There are also pool towels available at the pool; so no need to worry about bringing your own.
You can also enjoy a poolside meal or drink from nearby Trader Sam’s – Enchanted Tiki Bar or Tangaroa Terrace.
For an additional fee, Disneyland Hotel also has private, poolside cabanas.
Disneyland Hotel Dining
No need to worry about where you’re going to eat when staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Disneyland Hotel has character meals for breakfast and dinner, quick-service dining for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, a table service restaurant for lunch and dinner, and a coffee shop.
You can also order room service. Since Downtown Disney is a super close walk you could also easily walk to one of its many restaurants.
Here are your Disneyland Hotel dining options.
Goofy’s Kitchen
Goofy’s Kitchen is a super, fun character breakfast and dinner restaurant at Disneyland Hotel.
If you are visiting Disneyland with kids, this is a definite must-eat restaurant. You don’t even have to stay at Disneyland Hotel to eat here, but make sure you book your Advanced Dining Reservation because this restaurant does book up super fast.
What I love about Goofy’s Kitchen is that it is upbeat and colorful, the food is amazing and it has CHARACTERS!!
At breakfast, you can choose from delicious items such as Mickey waffles, pancakes, french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, and peanut butter and jelly pizza. Yes, peanut butter and jelly pizza! The kids will love this!
Even at breakfast, they have a dessert buffet that includes anything and everything from an ice cream bar to bread pudding.
For dinner, you can enjoy delicious meats from the carving station, fresh catch of the day, vegetables, salads, and assorted pizzas. And of course, they have that amazing dessert buffet for dinner too.
➡️For a more detailed review of Goofy’s Kitchen, be sure to check out Goofy’s Kitchen Review: A Disneyland Character Dining Experience.
Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill
Tangaroa Terrace is your quick-service restaurant at the Disneyland Hotel that is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The lit torches, island music, and swaying palms will give you major Polynesian vibes. This restaurant was inspired by the Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland. In fact, you can get the popular DOLE WHIP here!
Delicious items served for breakfast include Tangaroa Toast, thick and fluffy Japanese pancakes, and short rib steak and eggs.
Lunch and dinner include items such as Hawaiian cheeseburgers, poke bowls and Hawaiian Platters with either marinated short rib or teriyaki chicken.
This all sounds delicious, right?
Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar
Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar is a very popular spot at Disneyland Resort open for lunch and dinner.
The atmosphere is inspired by the popular, classic Jungle Cruise ride at Disneyland Park.
This restaurant/ bar is open to all ages until 8 pm, but after 8 pm it’s only open to guests 21 years of age and older. This would the perfect late date night spot at Disneyland Resort to grab a drink and enjoy the romance and island vibes.
Here, you’ll also find many of the great foods also served at Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill like Hawaiian cheeseburgers, poke bowls, and Hawaiian Platters.
The Coffee House
If you’re a coffee lover like me, you’ll be frequenting The Coffee House quite often when staying at the Disneyland Hotel.
The Coffee House serves all your favorite hot and cold coffee beverages.
They also sell cute souvenir travel tumblers that you can drink your coffee out of. I got a super cute one for Christmas.
Besides coffee, they also serve hot tea, assorted sodas, juices, and milk. Food items include assorted pastries, fruit, yogurt, and oatmeal.
This is also a great place to grab wine or beer and take to the pool to relax.
Disneyland Hotel Room Service
Now, let’s talk about room service at Disneyland Hotel. You can enjoy a convenient meal in the comfort of your room for those times you are completely worn out and don’t feel like making it out of your room for some food.
Room service is available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Provided in your Disneyland Hotel room is a menu of all the delicious food and drinks you can order.
Also when staying at Disneyland Hotel you can get restaurant delivery from some of the Downtown Disney restaurants. Pretty nice, right?
Disneyland Hotel Activities
Disneyland Hotel offers a variety of activities throughout the year. When you check in you can pick up a current schedule of activities going on at the hotel for your stay.
Disneyland Hotel Fitness Center and Fitness Classes
For those that like to get a good workout on vacation, Disneyland Hotel has a great fitness center.
Currently, the fitness center is located in the Mark Twain Room at the Frontier Tower.
For those that like a good workout class, Disneyland Resort hotels offer BootCamp, yoga, and tai-chi. You can pick up the current schedule of classes for your stay at check-in.
Benefits of Staying at Disneyland Hotel
There are so many benefits to staying at Disneyland Hotel.
As we’ve already discussed, Disneyland Hotel is in a very convenient location. You are right next door to Downtown Disney and the Downtown Disney District Monorail Station.
Disneyland Hotel also has convenient and delicious dining options including the character dining Goofy’s Kitchen and the popular Jungle Cruise-inspired bar, Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar.
And like staying at any other Disney hotel, you are in the “Disney bubble.” There’s just no other feeling like it. Staying on Disney property just makes your Disney vacation more magical.
And the quality and customer service are second to none.
You’ll notice how great the service is when you arrive for check-in. The check-in process at Disney hotels is always smooth and easy. And if you do online-check you will be provided with Direct-to-Room Service, so you can go straight to your room and open the door via your Disneyland app.
When staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel, you also get a huge perk. This huge perk is “Early Entry.” You are allowed to enter the theme parks 30 minutes before the regular park opening.
Another great benefit to staying at the Disneyland Hotel is “Next Day Package Delivery.” Instead of having to carry around your purchases from Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, or Downtown Disney, you can request that the store send them to Disneyland Hotel. You can pick up your purchases from Disneyland Hotel when it arrives the next day.
Disneyland Hotel Cost
A Disneyland Hotel review wouldn’t be complete without talking about the cost, right?
There are 3 Disneyland Resort hotels: Disney’s Paradise Pier, Disneyland Hotel, and Disney’s Grand California Hotel and Spa.
Disneyland Hotel is the mid-range pricing hotel of Disneyland Resort hotels. Disney’s Paradise Pier is the most affordable and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa is the most expensive.
When comparing Disney Resort Hotels to off-property hotels, you will notice that Disney Resort hotels are more pricy. But if it’s in your budget, I will tell you the extra money you’re paying to stay on-property is always worth it.
There’s nothing like being in the “Disney bubble.” It really makes for a much, more magical trip!

FAQs- Disneyland Hotel Review
Can you see the fireworks from the Disneyland Hotel?
Many people want to know if you’re able to see the fireworks from the Disneyland Hotel. And this is certainly an excellent question!
After a long park day, you might not be able to stick it out for the fireworks show and you would love to see the show from the comfort of your own hotel room.
So, to answer this question, Yes, you can see fireworks from the Disneyland Hotel, but not in all of the rooms.
For the best chance of getting a fireworks view room, make sure to book a Premium View Room. The Premium Downtown Disney View rooms in the Adventure Tower provide a good opportunity to see the fireworks. Also, the higher floors of the Frontier and Fantasy Towers that face Downtown Disney also provide a showing of the fireworks.
On a recent stay at the Disneyland Hotel, we stayed in a Premium View Room on the 11th floor in the Frontier Tower and had the opportunity to see the fireworks.
Also, if you book a Club Level Room you can view the fireworks from the Concierge Lounge where they will also play a magical, festive soundtrack.
However, no matter what room you stay in at the Disneyland Hotel, you can play this magical music over the TV.
IMPORTANT: You can request a fireworks view when making your reservation or checking in, but know that it is not guaranteed. Plus, sometimes the fireworks shows are canceled due to the weather.
Can you walk through Disneyland Hotel?
Yes, even if you are not staying at the Disneyland Hotel you can walk through it.
In fact, I highly recommend you do! It’s only a short walk from the entrance to Downtown Disney. Plus, there are a couple of restaurants I recommend you try out including the character dining Goofy’s Kitchen and Trader Sam’s. But, make sure to make an Advanced Dining Reservation for both of these!
Is there a Monorail from Disneyland Hotel to Disneyland?
No, there is not a monorail at the Disneyland Hotel.
However, the monorail is only a short walk away (within 5 minutes) from the Disneyland Hotel. The monorail station is near the entrance to Downtown Disney.
From this monorail station, you can take the monorail to Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park.
This is a huge plus in staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Disneyland Hotel is the closest hotel to the monorail station!
